Formal Translation They have quickly turned aside from the path which I {Yahweh, Sovereign Lawgiver} commanded them; they have made for themselves a calf, a molten image, bowed down to it and sacrificed to it, and said, “These are your gods, Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt.” |
| 8. Dynamic Translation They have so quickly strayed from the path I {Yahweh, Liberating Sovereign} set for them—they have fashioned for themselves a calf, worshiped it, offered sacrifices to it, and declared, “These are your gods, Israel, who delivered you from Egypt.” |
