| 20. Formal Translation And the shepherds of Gerar quarreled with the shepherds of Isaac, saying, “The water is ours!” So he named that well Esek, because they contended with him. |
| 20. Dynamic Translation The herders from Gerar argued with Isaac’s herders, insisting, “This water belongs to us!” So Isaac called the well Esek, because they fought with him. |
