Proverbs 26:20:2עֵ֭צִיםetsimtrees or wood Proverbs 26:20:3תִּכְבֶּה־אֵ֑שׁtikhbeesha fire is quenched or goes out Proverbs 26:20:4וּבְאֵ֥יןuveenand in there not being or and where there is no Proverbs 26:20:5נִ֝רְגָּ֗ןnirgana whisperer or a slanderer Proverbs 26:20:6יִשְׁתֹּ֥קyishtokit becomes quiet or it is silenced Proverbs 26:20:7מָדֽוֹן׃madonquarreling or strife
20. Formal Translation
When there is no wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no slanderer, contention quiets down.
20. Dynamic Translation
If the wood is gone, the fire dies; and if the gossip is absent, quarrels come to an end.
