Formal Translation And in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still a youth, he began to seek the God {Elohei, David’s Spiritual Guide} of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purify Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, the Asherim, the idols, and the molten images. |
| 3. Dynamic Translation When he had been king for eight years and was still a young man, he began seeking the God {Elohei, True Worship Source} of his ancestor David. In the twelfth year he set out to cleanse Judah and Jerusalem, removing the illicit worship sites, Asherah poles, idols, and molten images. |
